The unknown end

Often life does not end in the same way it begins.
The end is always unknown, it is always invisible.

                    Life is an unknown journey.
Life never proceeds according to set principles.

                    Life is an extraordinary phenomenon.
It never runs on railway tracks,
It flows like the current of the river Ganga –
                    Its course is never predetermined.

And when the invisible unknown appears in the midst of all,
                    It disturbs everything.

The chaos and order of life

Should the future be just the modified past
Or something totally different?

So what one calls living is that
Which has happened and gone.

That which has gone is dead;
That’s why one’s mind is so dead.
That is the tragedy of one’s life.

You may be feeling,
“Where will I be if all my people die?”

Yes, this question arises in you,
Because you have invested a lot in someone.
Your visions, dreams, thoughts, imaginations,
Meditation, expectations, knowledge,
Experiences – your everything -
Totally yourself has been invested in someone.

So what will you be if that someone goes away or dies?

It seems unimaginable or unthinkable to you,
But it is the very fact of your life.

In the extreme moments of your life,
Everything goes away from you
And only you alone will remain forever.

That aloneness is Dharma – the universal order.

The religious person

If we put our whole power behind it,
The untruth can never be victorious.

Even if we give our very lives,
The untruth can never be victorious.

The truth, which is initially might appear to be losing,
                        Always wins in the end.
Truth appears to be losing in the beginning
But becomes victorious in the end.

But how can one possibly see the end from the beginning?
The person who is able to become religious.

Popularity Vs. Respect

There is a difference between being popular and being respected.
It is highly desirable to be both, but if a choice must be made,
It is far better to be respected.

Popularity can come and go quickly.
One can be popular by letting others always have their own way
Regardless of whether or not their way is fair and reasonable.

One can be popular by behaviour which delights the crowd
Until the crowd tires of that particular style of behaviour.

And one can be popular in the best sense of the word
Through a gracious personality and conduct
             That is pleasing and admirable.

Respect is hard-earned and consequently more lasting.

Man’s ego

When we like a certain thing,
                                       We say it is connected with God;

And when we don’t like a certain thing,
We say that is connected with Devil.

It is man’s ego that has put both
God and Devil at its service.
