Man’s ego

                                       When we like a certain thing,

                                       We say it is connected with God;

                                       And when we don’t like a certain thing,

                                       We say that is connected with Devil.

                                       It is man’s ego that has put both

                                       God and Devil at its service.

The enlightened vision

                                 The sun never sets.

                                 It is only setting for you.

                                 It is rising somewhere else.

                                 The sun knows no setting.

                                 It is always rising, it is continuously rising –

                                 Each moment is a new birth.

                                 For you, it looks like the sun is setting;

                                 But for the sun, it is always rising

                                 And rising and rising.

                                 It is eternal rising.

                                 And so is the vision of an enlightened man.

                                 Life knows no death.

                                 Life has never known death.

                                 The sun never sets.

                                 Nothing ever dies.

                                 Death is improbable, impossible.

                                 Death exists not.

                                 If a man lives his life totally,

                                 And is not afraid to live,

                                 He will become every day

                                 More and more beautiful.

Without love

                              Yet without love, life is barren;

                              Without love, the trees, the birds,

                              The smile of men and women

                              And everything have no meaning.

                              Without love, life is like a shallow pool.

                              In a deep river there is richness

                              And many fish can live;

                              But the shallow pool is soon dried up

                              By the strong sun,

                              And nothing remains except mud and dirt.

                              We must be aware of how we regard

                              Our friends, our guru, our parents.

Nothing is ...

                     Nothing is good or evil under all circumstances.

                     Nothing is certain for all time and space under all circumstances.

                     Life is a flux where everything changes from moment to moment.

                     Live in the moment; nothing is predetermined for you.

The ultimate test

               When one becomes enlightened, two possibilities open –

               Either he can remain inside the temple,

               In the womb of the temple …

               Dark, windowless, not going out at all,

               Not even a light penetrates; no sound from the outside,

               Nothing of the marketplace.

               You sit silently there,

               In absolute silence, in timeless silence.

               There is no reason why you should come out and have a dance,

               But still you have to come back,

               Although there is no reason.

               You can stop in silence, your journey is complete –

               But something is still missing.

               You have learnt how to be silent,

               Now you have to show whether you can be silent in sound.

               You have learnt how to be alone,

               Now you have to show whether you can be alone

               And love too.

               You have come back to the market place from mountains.

               The ultimate test is there.
